Just a note to the curios:
A lot has been asked and said about the names of our
dogs and instead of answering all the emails we receive
individually, we make the following statement. None
of the names given to the dogs has any connection to
any person, place or event. The names are all chosen
to sound strong. The name Hitler randomly springs to
conversation and in this defence I can only say that
just as there was an era when every second dog was named
‘Vegter’ we also went through the ‘Hitler’
stage. This name searching has nothing to do with beliefs,
religion or anything else other than just finding names
that sound strong and suitable for our dogs. We now
try our best to find names that haven’t been used
before, so if we use a word like ‘madiba’
for instance, we haven’t chosen it because of
political beliefs and because our first black president’s
nickname was madiba, but we chose the name because we
like the sound of it. Please keep in mind, it is not
about a name, an association, a person or even you or
me, it’s about the dog, the mighty Boerboel and
what they are able to do, what they are bred for and
why we believe it is the best dog breed in the world.
